The decision to split northern and southern protectorates is a major blunder that is the leading cause of political marginalization in Nigeria. Take the South for example, what the need to split Eastern Nigeria more to have South-South. East should be East having taken West from them.

One can easily say that the amalgamation of the northern and southern protectorates to have a country, Nigeria is one of the misdeeds done to the people of both geographic locations (North & South). This is because they believe that they are unequally yoked as they share no traceable commonness in culture and religion. This led them to civil war resulting from the mistreatment of the South by the North. This blossomed to the June 12, 1992, annulment of M.K.O Abiola’s victory in the presidential election.
The 1992 presidential election has been adjudged the fairest election in the history of Nigeria. Who knows where and how Nigeria would have fared had the election stood the test of time?
