In an interview clip, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Oyo State, Tawfiq Akinwale made a glaring revelation which indicts Pat Utomi, the presidential aspirant in Labour Party (LP) who stepped down for Peter Obi who rush out of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for no tangible reasons abandoning his struggle for the presidential ticket.
Tawfig Akinwale revealed that:
“In the buildup to the 2023 elections, Obi who had purchased the nomination form of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), suddenly announced his exit from the party.
“Initially, Pat Utomi had secured the LP’s presidential ticket, but when Peter Obi said he resigned from the PDP and joined the LP. Bola Tinubu, a master political strategist, quickly told Utomi, that everyone knows to be his son to step down for Obi.
“The “president-elect” saw in Obi’s presidential bid, a good chance to reduce the winning chances of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.
“What Peter Obi didn’t know is much more that what he knows, he started collecting campaign funds from Utomi, while Tinubu was giving the money to Utomi.
“This went on until Obi’s presidential campaign got to a stage it went beyond target. Obi was used without him knowing,”
What the LP aspirant implied is that, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who eventually won the 2023 presidential election foresaw the popularity the Peter Obi presidential campaign will generate, then he cashed on it by suggesting that his political son, Pat Utomi, who was the projected candidate of the LP, and probably, Bola Tinubu’s stooge in the party all along, to step down for Peter Obi who was blindly desperate for a presidential ticket to run for the presidential election known that Nigerians would vote in protest against the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and its candidate, Bola Tinubu. Utomi, having stepped down, being a LP aspirant, who must have prepared for the campaigns, he had funds, he had to directly or indirectly support Peter Obi’s campaign, Tinubu released funds for Peter Obi’s campaign through Utomi. This snowballed desperate Obi’s campaign.
Fortunately, Pat Utomi has made a swift reaction to the revelation by tweeting:
“As I watch the desperation with which past acts sown in love for the common good is unearthed and bent into disinformation regarding the present I am thankful that in the end truth is the only thing that prevails when lust for power is consumed by its own negativity. So I ignore.”
Evidently, Pat Utomi made no denial to it. Although he was economical with fact. The question remains, Did Pat Utomi deceive Peter Obi or they both knowingly played out Tinubu’s script to undermine Atiku’s chances in the South East?
